Team PokerRoom player wins almost 2 million Danish kroner
The Danish player Ricki Nielsen ended yesterday as the best placed Dane ever at a WSOP! Ricki ended in 35th position and won almost 2 million DKK – a top result created by the Dane who started his poker career just two years ago.
Ricki started the 6th day among the top 10 players out of the 45 participants entering the day. He did not really have any luck on the first level and his stack was cut by a third.
After a hand, which could have gone both ways, it was exit for the 23-year-old Danish boy who has showed excellent play during the whole tournament, and therefore got the nick names River Ricki and the Greater Dane. Despite his immediate disappointment the mood was still good at the Team PokerRoom players’ lounge and the celebration of Ricki’s results has not ended yet.
”You shouldn’t feel sorry for me, I have had the time of my life”, say Ricki and declares that he is now leaving the hotel for a few days with his family after having been in Vegas since of July 28.
Even though the tournament is over for the young poker talent, Ricki will not leave this year’s WSOP empty handed. He will cash in DKK 1.915.360 for his work.
River Ricki won his seat on Team PokerRoom by winning the official Danish Poker Ranking List 2006 with very stable and reliable gaming; a style, which he has kept up in Vegas.
So far the best Danish result at the WSOP was Jarl Lindholdt, who ended as number 58 last year.
